The WitchGround Basin is a fascinating area to image the subsurface and provides another excuse to use our witch for scale (Note: the average witch is 1.6m tall).

These beautiful examples were acquired by Beam and processed by RockWave in 2024 over the proposed #GreenVolt floating wind farm for Flotation Energy and Vårgrønn, the most progressed commercial-scale floating wind farm in Europe, awarded during Crown Estate Scotland’s INTOG leasing round.

This latest dataset enhances the subsurface understanding at the site and builds upon the previous reprocessed SBP data (RockWave on LinkedIn: #witchground #greenvolt #intog) that supported an initial interpretation of the Witch Ground, Coalpit and Swatchway Formations across the site.

Examples from this region were shown in technical talks last year at EAGE GET24 and GeolSoc Offshore Wind conferences, highlighting the importance of quality data through high-end seismic processing. We look forward to hearing what new mysteries are solved in 2025 following interpretation of this new dataset.

This is the level of seismic data quality that you should expect when contracting geophysical surveys. To reach such levels requires specialist seismic data processing & imaging by subject experts. Contact RockWave now to join your next campaign.
